Miniature Guitar Models

Making Of / 04 January 2021

As I said on my fb page, 2020 was very special for me. Now I want to focus on something different than image. They were supposed to be only Christmas decorations, but I decided to make them all year decorations or even something more. I'm writing about the small electric guitar models which I created on December 2020.

They were made of paper, cardboard, foam and thread as you can read on my portfolio.

First I had to get the pattern of the guitar body. To do this, I found online a guitar body that I wanted to make and then put a sheet of paper on the monitor and just gently outlined it. Yes, I made it that way. :D

After that I cut out the body from the sheet of paper and put it on cardboard. And again outlined it and cut out it. I needed 3 cardboard bodies.

Then I used glue to stick the cardboard bodies together and filled empty space on the side of the bodies with snow paste (I used materials and mediums which I had) and then painted it and left to dry.

After that the guitar bodies needed to be sanded clean with fine sanding paper to achieve a smooth finish and a proper shape. Then I applied the coat of varnish and again allowed the body from the cardboard to dry.

The same things were made to guitar neck and head, but I didn't paint the fretboard just marked each of the fret with silver metallic paint, painted white dots and made nut with hot glue gun. Nut was painted with white paint.

To make pick guard I used piece of sheet of paper and painted it.

Every screw was painted with silver metallic paint. I used this paint or black paint to other guitar parts like pickups or bridge.

Tone/volume controls was made of foam as well as tuning keys, but that last parts was also made of pieces of paper.

The strings are thread threaded the keys and stick to nut and bridge.

And at the end I stick a guitar strap made of band.

And that's it. ;)
